Sand and Water Table

One of the great features of a sand and water table is that it opens up more possibilities for play and experimentation for your child. By using both sand and water, you can double the use of your sandpit or sand table and provide your child with opportunities for water play.

However, another option would be to use a sand and water table, as this means your child can play with both sand and water at the same time. Sand and water tables are designed to have two separate compartments – one for sand and the other for water.

These combined sand and water tables can be a much more convenient way for children to have fun, because you no longer need to empty and refill, in order to alternate between sand and water.

As well as sand and water tables, there are also sandpits which are cleverly designed, so that one half can be used as a sand pit and the other half can be used as a paddling pool, or for water play. This second half usually doubles as a lid which you can use to cover the sand pit when not in use. Again, this allows your child to enjoy both sand and water in a convenient way.sand and water table for children

Combination sand and water play tables or pools do have some distinct advantages, such as convenience, but also have a few disadvantages which are listed below to help you decide if this option would suit your needs.

Advantages of a sand and water table or combined water and sand pit

  • They are usually plastic and therefore easy to clean and disinfect, if necessary.
  • The possibility of combining sand and water together encourages even more exploration and creative play.
  • If the sand gets wet, it can simply be left to dry.

Disadvantages of a sand and water table or combined water and sand pit.

  • Each compartment is usually smaller than it would be if you were using a separate sand pit or sand table
  • Due to the smaller size, your child may outgrow these sooner than they would an individual sand pit.
